Let’s Eat Local

Where does your food come from? (Before you buy it from Shoprite or Spar) What are the ingredients of the sauce you’re eating? Do you know what E270 and E260 are!?

I thought it would be a fun challenge for us to try and eat mostly local foods for one week… And local is definitely lekker!

The challenge has made me more curious as to where everything we consume comes from. It was also interesting to find out what is available locally… And I will still be on the lookout for local produce which will change depending on the season.

I even made my own sour dough bread for the first time! And my own mayonaise. I also want to plant more veggies in our garden this year… I’ll plant some tomato plants in the greenhouse before Meryl’s cold front.

So why don’t you also challenge yourself to find out more about local foods near you.

Here are some pics of our local food week…
