Joy Jar – Week 1 Creatively Grateful

Piglet noticed that even though he had a very small heart, it could hold a rather large amount of gratitude.

We are one week into our creativity challenge. Well done to everyone who made the effort to make their “Joy Jar.” Now try to remember to write something you are thankful for every day for the rest of the 8 week challenge and add it to your gratitude jar. May it remind us to count our blessings!

Put your joy jar somewhere where you will see it.

Week 1’s Challenge was to make a “Joy Jar” which is a gratitude jar/box/suitcase/plate/thing in which to record one happy thing that happened each day for the rest of the 8 weeks.

I really enjoyed the different ways that this week’s project was interpreted. So many good ideas and so much creativity!

Challenge for Week 2

Week 2’s Challenge: My Favourite Things…

“I simply remember my Favourite Things and then I don’t feel so bad.”

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens

Brown paper packages tied up with strings

These are a few of my favorite things.

A song from the Sound Of Music

I watched the movie, The Sound of Music, a few times when I was a kid. I really enjoyed the songs. My Favourite Things is sung when the kids come to Maria because they can’t sleep because they are scared of the thunderstorm. So she tells them they should think of their favourite things. Here’s the link if you want to watch the clip.

Show us one, two or a few of your favourite things by making a word collage, drawing or painting one of your favourite things, take a photo and adding your favourite quote, writing about your favourite things.

You can include one thing or all of them in any way you want to express yourself. This is also not limited to one project. You can draw a picture of one thing and write about another if you want to.

Call it coincidence or divine intervention… I read Fantastic Mr Fox to Leo for the first time tonight, and found this at the back of the book… Roald Dahl’s Favourite things! An interesting find a day before the week’s topic of “My Favourite Things!”
