Hiking to Ladybrand’s Waterfall

It was Ouma Jane’s idea to hike up the mountain. 

I asked Jaco to join us for security and I knew he had recently been to the waterfall.  We were all very fascinated with his self-made walking stick full of symbolic artwork. Leo called him Mr. Tour-guide.  The quote on his whatsapp profile was: “You don’t get stronger by doing what you can.  You get stronger by doing what you thought you couldn’t.”

This beautiful little waterfall has been right here in Ladybrand, in our own backyard, and yet we had never visited it before.

Like in the book The Alchemist, we sometimes search far and wide for treasure, only to discover that it was close to home all along.
