Celebrating Dakkie's Birthday with Good Food and Great People

It’s quite lucky when your birthday is on a weekend, but especially lucky when your birthday is on an extra long long weekend!

Birthday brunch: toast with a can of pilchers, capers, feta, avos and fresh garden greens.

This weekend we celebrated Carol’s birthday with a dinner party, sleepovers, brunch, cake, melktertjies, drinks and family (and friends which are family).

Dakkie, which is what her niece, nephew and grandkids call her, seems to be aging backwards because she is looking so good and is, as always, so much fun to be around.

We had a special supper with a purple theme at Blu Bottle, My Housey. We had gluwein for pre-drinks, tomato soup for starters (Leo’s request) and sago pudding with white chocolate custard for pudding. Main course was also a delicious stew with veggies! My mouth is starting to water just thinking about it!

Leo said a special speech for Dakkie at the party and at our family brunch. Natey slept on a mattress at the party and made a point to avoid being in any photos.

Carol, Mammie, Dakkie, may this year be like your birthday weekend – filled with fun, family, love and laughter… And of course yummy food! xxx
