Kobb Inn

Lekker fishing! We’ll need to get some tips from Hannes and Anashti.
Climbing up sand dunes… A good way to use up energy!

The beaches of the Transkei are truly wild and amazing! The last time we were there was before we became parents! Here’s a link to our previous travels to the Transkei.

We joined friends at Kobb Inn and explored the untamed beaches and summer weather for a few days…

The roads to get there aren’t in great condition. They are winding and have many potholes and roaming cattle so we had to drive extra cautiously. We arrived late in the afternoon while it was pouring with rain but luckily the next few days we had good weather.

Our room was a stone throw away from the beach. (I didn’t try, but I’m sure I could throw a stone in the water standing on our room’s stoep – and I can’t throw very far) At night the waves sounded like they were roaring as they crashed upon the rocks! You could hear and feel the water’s energy! I also loved the paintings on the walls in the rooms and dining hall.  Big mural paintings of wild coast flowers, animals and even of the people working there are painted directly on the walls.

We watched Hannes and Anashti catch about 10 fish within a few hours! It was very impressive! They stood on the rocks and just pulled out one fish after another. We are looking forward to being invited to a fish braai at their place soon. 😋😉

We occupied ourselves with kid-friendly activities like finding shells, building sandcastles, playing in rock pools and climbing up and sliding down sand dunes. (We just watched them do that last activity!)

I saved the best for last… the food! Sooo delicious! Their in-house chef prepares breakfast, lunch and supper every day. My absolute favourite was Saturday’s seafood buffet…  for starters you could help yourself to oysters with pepper and tabasco sauce. Then for mains there were prawns, braaid fish, calamari, fish pasta, fish in cheese sauce, freshly baked bread and various yummy salads. I tasted just a little bit of everything but my plate was overflowing… just thinking about that meal now is making my mouth water! There was bread pudding for dessert which I didn’t have any space for but ate anyway.

We would really like to go back to Kobb Inn! Maybe we will also catch some fish next time.

These worms make webs… How weird!
Leo hurt his foot… Then Natey also needed a bandage.
The pros show us how it’s done.
