Whiskey Breakfast Oats

IMG_5625This is an easy breakfast to make, especially if you have to make a quick breakfast for a lot of people…and the whiskey just gives it that extra smoothness and flavour. Our friend, Bok, made it for us on “oats friday” when we visited them in Cape Town.

You need:

(1 cup of oats is enough for 2 people, so adjust recipe accordingly)

1 cup rolled oats (organic if possible)
2 cups boiling water
1 cup milk
2 lids full of whiskey (1 lid is about 10ml)
Cinnamon
Apples or Bananas and honey or Raspberries or Apple sauce (or any thing else you fancy)

In a pot add oats, water and milk. Allow to boil and stir until desired consistency is reached. Add cinnamon according to taste. Just before the oats is done add the whiskey. Garnish with fruit or berries and some more cinnamon.

For every person measure out 1/2 cup of oats, 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup water and 1 lid of whiskey.
