Lionel’s Birthday Robot

Why did the robot cross the road?

Because he was programmed by a chicken.

A few months ago Leo told me he would like a robot party. I asked him, if he could make a robot, what would his robot look like and what would it do. His answer was so thoughtful that we not only planned an actual robot party for his birthday, but I decided to write a book about it too. (Published via KDP and available on Amazon.com and Takealot.)

If you could make a robot, what would your robot do? Would it make you scrambled eggs or brew some tea for you?

Leo and Marcus made a robot from Takealot boxes and spray painted it silver. The robot’s arms turn to open and close a door on its body. It’s easy to twist his arm…

We also baked some cupcakes and made a robot cake. The body of the robot cake was chocolate carrot cake with cream cheese icing! A really delicious combo.

On the day of the party, Marcus organized a spit braai, Thandi made lekker pap and I made some tomato & onion sauce. (And burnt some samp and beans… The chickens thought it was Christmas!)

The weatherman predicted rain but luckily he changed his mind at the last minute and the rain only started when the party was almost finished.

Everyone had fun playing, chatting and sliding down the big jumping castle slide. I read “Lionel’s Birthday Robot” to our guests and we all sang “Happy Birthday.” The plan was to only cut and eat the cake for pudding but nobody could wait so we had the cake for starters. Leo was very spoilt with thoughtful presents from his friends and family.

Thank you to everyone for the birthday prezzies, calls and wishes. It was definitely a birthday bot to forget. ๐Ÿ˜œ
