Fourie Waldorf Salad – An Extra-Ordinary Salad

My sister and her husband introduced me to this salad on Christmas eve. It’s not your ordinary salad and makes an interesting and delicious addition to a salad spread.

Waldorf salad was apparently first created by Oscar Tschirky between 1893 and 1896 at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City. Although the original recipe only consisted of apple, celery and mayonaise.

What you need:

Apples
Celery
Walnuts
Raisins
Greek yoghurt

Chop up the apples, celery and walnuts. Add the raisins and mix all ingredients together with the greek yoghurt. Estimate the quantities according to how much salad you want to make.

Alternatively, you could serve it as a healthy starter on a piece of lettuce.
