Homemade Hummus

What did one chickpea say to the other? “Hummus a tune!”

So many people have asked me for my hummus recipe! The truth is, I don’t really have one. I usually just throw everything into my NutriBullet, blend it together, and hope for the best.

But here are the approximate ingredients and how I make it.

Ingredients:

• 1 tin chickpeas, drained
• 2 teaspoons ground cumin
• 1 teaspoon ground coriander
• A handful of fresh coriander
• Juice of 2 lemons
• 2 garlic cloves
• ½ teaspoon ground ginger
• ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
• 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• Salt and black pepper to taste
• 10 to 20 ml water, if needed

Method:

1. Throw everything into a NutriBullet or blender.
2. Blend until smooth and creamy.
3. Add a little water if needed to get the consistency you like.
4. Taste and adjust the lemon, salt or spices to your liking.

Serve with freshly cut cucumber, carrot sticks, or whatever other crunchy vegetables you enjoy.

Simple, fresh, full of flavour, and a lovely way to add some extra fibre and plant protein to your day!
