Clarens Craft Beer Festival 2025
“Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.”

The 2025 Clarens Craft Beer Festival was a weekend to remember! We’ve lost count, but I think this was our 11th Clarens Beer Festival. 🤔 And we keep coming back for more!
Watermelon beer, peanut butter beer, coconut beer, stout, lager, IPA, ciders, cherry beer… there are so many different types to choose from. Even if you think you’re not a beer drinker, this festival might just convince you otherwise.
As usual, we stayed at Clarens Retreat, an awesome guesthouse and restaurant. Their gardens are looking absolutely stunning, and their food is next level!
Now, let’s talk about Marcus. This year, he was a beer. And he was a hit! So many people wanted photos with him that we could barely talk to him. I think a Brewery should name a beer after him!
Since Marcus was a beer, he had the idea for a fun photo where the guys would hold him while I pretended to drink him. Then, someone suggested that the ladies should hold him instead—it might make for an even cooler picture. So we went with that idea, and our group of ladies lifted him… and then dropped him! Safe to say, I won’t be asking any of them to “Hou my dop” again! At least we won a box of beer at Clarens Brewery for that photo!
Daleen was also a celebrity—she won the chilli sauce competition! Her prize? A free beer at every brewery, just by giving them a secret code! I don’t think she even managed to visit a quarter of the breweries, though.
I was also super impressed with Linley and Darren’s shirts—I think our whole group needs matching shirts, duck outfits, or something interesting next year! I especially liked the “Where’s Wally” group. They looked awesome.
There was also some lekker potjiekos, and those bubble waffles the kids were eating looked really interesting.
The weatherman said it would rain the whole weekend, but luckily, it didn’t—although it was definitely wet. On Friday, my plakkies were so muddy that I had to take them off. But I came prepared and wore gumboots on Saturday.
It was such an enjoyable weekend! The breweries keep getting bigger and better, and the variety of beers just keeps growing. Can’t wait for next year!
