My Fair Lady at MonteCasino

Oumie, Carol, Linley and I joined the Kosmos Toere group to watch My Fair Lady at MonteCasino this weekend, and it was truly a memorable experience!

My Fair Lady is a classic musical that first premiered on Broadway in 1956, starring Julie Andrews as Eliza Doolittle. The story is based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion and follows Eliza’s transformation from a Cockney flower girl to a refined lady, all under the reluctant guidance of Professor Higgins. Although we have never watched the show or movie before we recognized many famous songs which are from the show.

The weekend was exceptionally well-organized! We simply got on the bus and relaxed while Andries, the organizer and driver, kept us entertained with his fun facts and stories along the way.

We stayed at the Apollo Hotel, and everything went smoothly—except for one small hiccup. When we were about to leave for the show, I realized I had left our tickets in the hotel room! So, Linley and I had to sprint back in our high heels to fetch them while everyone else waited. It was quite the dramatic start to our evening!

MonteCasino was buzzing with energy. There were so many people, and the atmosphere was electric! The excitement in the air as well as the belly dancers made the experience even more special.

Of course, the highlight of the trip was My Fair Lady itself. The performance was absolutely brilliant! The talent of the actors, actresses, and musicians was incredible to witness. The live orchestra played from beneath the stage, guided by a conductor, bringing the music to life. The set design was also incredible. The stage actually rotated between scenes to reveal a totally different set design. The vibe was simply next-level!

A huge thank you to Kosmos Toere for organizing such a seamless and unforgettable weekend. I’ll definitely be joining them again for another adventure!
