“Un petit coin de paradis” (A little corner of paradise)
Arrived at Joburg airportWhat a coincidence! The airport knows we are celebrating Natey’s 7th birthday! (Salebration!)Natey making sure Dakkie doesn’t get ridden over by a car
“Family moments are the best souvenirs.”
We heard a lot of French this week. Although, I do think most of the guests at the hotel, or at least 50% were South Africans. We spent a week in Mauritius at Club Med’s Pointe aux Canonniers in Grand Baie… what an amazing place!
Two years ago, we went for Dakkie’s 60th but ended up having bigger celebrations while there for Leo’s 7th birthday. This is the post of when we were in Mauritius 2 years ago. The kids look so small! So, because we were there for Leo’s 7th, Dakkie said we have to go for Natey’s 7th too! (And who would want to argue against that kinda logic!?) Oui Oui for Mauri! (Yes, yes for Mauritius.)
We drove to Joburg and booked into the slow lounge. It’s there where I found wine on tap! I could have happily stayed there for the week… watching aeroplanes, eating snacks, and having wine on tap. Luckily, our flight was delayed, so we stayed at the slow lounge a bit longer than what we planned.
The slow lounge! Thanks FNB. I even got a complimentary massage! The slow lounge was a great start to our holiday. The party continued on our flight to Mauritius.Rapunzel, rapunzel, let down your beard…
ClubMed is a really awesome place to stay, especially if you have kids. They were so amazing making Natey’s birthday special…. a letter, presents, cake and singing.
The food was delicious too! Their seafood, especially, was top notch! Although we ate a lot, I think we ate healthier than what we normally do! Now I’m thinking of ways how I can make healthy food more delicious in our daily lives…
There were endless activities to choose from, but Dakkie and I mainly specialized in the “sitting around drinking cocktails” events. 😜
We joined in on the creative activities like bracelet-making, painting, colouring, and even a bit of origami (cocktail in hand, of course).
We also tried our hand at archery, skiing, swimming, bird watching, net fishing, plus plenty of walking, chatting, snacking, and eating.
The seafood at ClubMed was next level! Kids forcing Dakkie to get her hair wet.Tables and lights all around the swimming pool. When we woke up the next morning it was all packed away!Fishing… caught eels, starfish, crabs, fish, a sea cucumber and a sting ray! (Put them all back again afterwards.)Sunset pics!Strawberry Daiquiris were delishThis waiter laughed at Oup for ordering a virgin mojitoWe all scream for ice cream!Beware of the stone fish! Natey spoke about this in his grade 1 oral this year! And one of our fellow South Africans got stung! She had to go to the hospital. Luckily, she survived and is well. ClubMed handled the situation so well. Splashing in the water. (In retrospect, a few meters from where the stonefish was!)Cheers!Lekker food. (That’s Natey’s photo face.)Sail boats.
