Goodbye to You My Trusted Friend – A Tribute to Rex
“A dog lives for the day, the hour, even the moment.”
“Someone asked me what the most difficult part of having a dog was. I replied: The Goodbye.” – goodquotes
I have so many photos and good memories of Rexi! He was really such a good dog.
He followed me everywhere I went and he would bark ferociously if anyone he didn’t trust came near me, especially if Marcus wasn’t at home.
He has been sick for a few months now and it’s been very difficult to witness his life energy fade from his once fit, muscular body. We have been fortunate that Chilli and Rex have been really healthy! I only found out recently that you can’t just buy pain medicine for your dog! You actually have to physically take your dog to first see a vet before you are allowed pain medicine! This, to me, is absurd!
Back in 2014, Chilli and Rex were the only two in their litter. We initially were only going to get one puppy, but fell in love with both of them immediately! And, because Rex didn’t have a typical boston terrier coat we were given him for free!
Rex was like a wise old dog from the start. He seemed to know the secrets of life. In his gentle way he showed us how to enjoy life. He did have weaknesses though… Chickens and cats transformed him into hunter mode. And rats, but hunter mode was needed when it came to rats.
He had a good life and has protected us, entertained us, comforted us and taught us so much!
We buried him this morning. Leo asked if we are going to make a tombstone that says: “Rex VIP.” He meant “RIP”, but “very important person/dog” is also fitting.
I will think of Rex when I go for a walk. I will think of him when I see a dandelion. I will miss him sitting on my lap. Rexi, your paw prints will forever be in our hearts!
Other blog posts about Chilli and Rex. This one is when Rex saved me from a huge rat! This post has photos of them as puppies. They really were the cutest little pups!
