Clarens Beer Festival 2023
You better not pout, just have a stout, You better not cry, try a beer dry, You better not frown… Because…Craft Breweries are coming to town!
It was the Clarens Craft Beer Festival 2023. Luckily, it was a nice, warm weekend! (unlike last year’s winter beer fest!)
It was, once again, a very lekker atmosphere! The breweries and their brews didn’t disappoint. And I think we all tasted beer we’ve never tasted before and learnt something new about beer and our taste buds. Oumie said the beer even miraculously cured her joint pains! Oumie needed a walking stick when entering but after some beer tasting, she no longer needed her walking stick!
The entrance moved from being across from Clarens Brewery to the opposite side of the square… which caused us to have to walk all around the square before we found the new entrance. The bathrooms were also moved to across the road on the new entrance side- which I think was a good idea. Still a long que for the ladies but I was impressed with how neat the staff kept the bathroom area.
There were jumping castles for the kids, but Hans’s Jolly Trolley seemed to excite my kids the most. Marcus was once again a hit with his beard, suit and groot persoonlikheid and Hannes eventually appointed himself as Marcus’s agent and bodyguard. Thanks, Hannes! Derick and Daleen also joined us on Saturday. Oh, and I would still like to see Tosh and the gang’s tic-toc video which I watched them make!
We stayed at Clarens Retreat again this year. Clarens Retreat is absolutely amazing and it just keeps getting better and better! The owners’ attention to detail is superb. The units are not only spotlessly clean, but also beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. And the restaurant is next level! We only had breakfast there but the Taljaards told us about their amazing supper at Clarens Retreat Restaurant on Friday and Saturday night! Sounds mouth-watering!
Thank you to Lezhanne who organized our accommodation and tickets! We missed you!
