#18 What about Vitamins and Supplements?

Would I ever consider taking protein powder?

No Whey!🤣

Vitamins and Supplements… if only there was a cheap, magic pill that will make us all look good and feel great.

These are the top 5 supplements worth considering, in my opinion, — especially if you’re human, tired, stressed, not sleeping enough, and haven’t eaten wild-caught salmon since that one time in 2017.

  1. Magnesium (I like Magnesium Glycinate) at night

Between stress, soil depletion, and that third cup of coffee, we’re all running a bit low on Magnesium.
Magnesium supports sleep, muscle relaxation, blood sugar, and mental clarity.

Common magnesium-rich foods include leafy greens (like spinach), legumes (like lentils and chickpeas), nuts and seeds (especially pumpkin seeds and almonds), whole grains (like oats and brown rice), dark chocolate, avocados, and bananas.

  1. Vitamin D3 + K2 (sunshine in a capsule)

We were meant to bask in the sun like happy lizards.
Instead, we’re indoors, under LED lights, Googling “why am I tired all the time?” 🤣

Vitamin D helps your immune system, bones, and mood. K2 makes sure calcium goes to your bones and not your arteries. That’s why it’s good to take the combo.

What to take: D3 + K2 combo (unless your skin is exposed to the sun a lot. You can also do a blood test to test your levels.)

  1. Omega-3

Omega-3s reduce inflammation, support brain health, and lower triglycerides.
Most of us don’t eat enough fatty fish (I don’t mean the deep fried oil type)

What to take: High-quality fish oil (EPA + DHA)
Taken with food

(Not for cats)
  1. Creatine (not just for the muscle men)

This one surprised me.
Creatine isn’t just for bulging biceps — it also helps with brain energy, mood, and mitochondrial function. It took many articles to convince me about this one.

Creatine monohydrate 5g daily. You can add it to your coffee or yoghurt.

  1. A Good Multivitamin

Even with the best intentions (and a veggie garden), modern life is sneaky.
Low selenium, zinc, B12? It’s not always easy to get it all with diet. (Although ideal.)

I sometimes also take Berberine. I don’t think Berberine is for everyone. I know my glucose levels sometimes go high and I usually know what foods cause this. So, I take Berberine according to my diet.

What vitamins and supplements do you take?
