#6 Is Popcorn a Healthy Snack?

Popcorn always makes me feel like I’m on top of the world. It makes me feel pop-timistic about life.

If you’re looking for a healthy snack to mindlessly snack on, then popcorn is definitely one of the much better options!

Why does popcorn always stand out in a crowd? Because it’s so POPular!

You could make yourself some cut veggies with hummus… which is also delicious, but popcorn is quick and easy to make.

Chickens like popcorn too!

The thing with popcorn…. if it’s made in lots of oil, has tasty MSG spices on it or bought in a store… then it’s not that healthy anymore. You can make it yourself for cheaper and make it much healthier!

A POPular salt and vinegar popcorn spice

All these funny ingredients are out to get us, and they are everywhere! Read the labels of the food you eat and give to your kids!

I airpop my popcorn in the microwave.  I have a silicone popcorn popper, which works amazingly. Just make sure it’s not the cheapest silicone because then it may smell like plastic… I know some people don’t like microwaves…. but from what I have read, they are not too bad… maybe I must write a post on microwaves sometime.

Anyway, airpopped popcorn contains fiber and is not very high in calories. And, multiple times, I have tested it while wearing a Continous Glucose Monitor, and it doesn’t raise my glucose much. It does raise my glucose a lot if I sprinkle it with popcorn spice. (Which I think I was addicted to at some point!)

Now remember, just because it doesn’t raise my glucose doesn’t 100% guarantee that it won’t raise your glucose…

I put salt and vinegar on my popcorn. Yes, I put real vinegar.  And then I put the lid on and give it a good shake, then I put salt on and shake it again.  I don’t have high blood pressure, so people who do will maybe need to be mindful of the salt.

I have read nutritional yeast tastes nice on popcorn, and Robert also has a secret, healthy popcorn spice recipe.

To pop or not? It’s POPbably up to you.
