Easiest way to poach an egg

What’s the easiest way to make a poached egg? We thought it would be the new egg poacher we bought… But actually the trick Lionel saw on Facebook works the best. You have to experiment a bit with timing on your microwave, but once you master it, this is probably the quickest and easiest way to make a poached egg…. (Let me know if you have an easier way.)

1. Break an egg into a mug.
2. Cover the raw egg with some cold water.
3. Microwave on high for 1 minute.
4. Remove from microwave and allow to stand for 1 minute.
5. Scoop poached egg out with a tablespoon.

…and you have a poached egg!

On the subject of eggs. Here is a good tip especially when you are working with a lot of eggs and have to separate them. Get a squeeze bottle (1liter coke plastic bottle) – remove lid of course. Place bottle neck near egg yellow and squeeze and release. Woops the egg yellow will be swallowed into the bottle leaving the white behind. Magic hey!
