Uyuni Salt Flats Tour (still with the same terrible guide) – Day 3

We had to wake up at 3:00 am the morning of the 3rd day of the tour. Cesar was no longer looking intoxicated but we all still wanted to punch him for ruining our tour and not even apologizing. (We didn’t want to end up in San Pedro or any other Bolivian prison so we kept our calm.)

It was dark and icy cold when we started driving. We were freezing! Even when the sun came up it didn’t heat us up much. Cesar drove more responsibly that day but still managed to drive into a big rock in the road which made the spare wheel fall off from the roof of the Toyota.

We saw interesting rock formations, natural geysers, some lakes and hot springs. The geysers released so much steam and it smelt like rotten egg. The scenery was quite amazing! I haven’t seen anything like it before. At one point along our route it looked as if we were on the moon. If the moon landing is a conspiracy, they probably recorded it somewhere there.

When we reached the border to stamp ourselves out of Bolivia and get onto a bus to take us over to Chile we were all smiles. No more Cesar! Yay!

The tour guides finish the tour at the Chilean border and then pick up tourists there and do the tour in reverse to Uyuni! That’s not nice for them because they don’t even get an hour’s rest in between the tours. We didn’t feel sorry for Cesar but we did feel sorry for the new group we saw getting into the Ripley’s Tours vehicle.
